Housing for the less well-off

Housing for the less well-off

People with and without disabilities should live here. People who are less well-off and for whom there is hardly anything suitable on the normal housing market: the merciful brothers gremsdorf are realizing 21 social housing units in the upper bachgasse in adelsdorf.

The land was bought by the community three years ago. "At that time already with the ulterior motive to create affordable housing", reported mayor karsten fischkal () at yesterday's groundbreaking ceremony. Gunther allinger, managing director of the barmherzige bruder, opened the floodgates a short time later when he approached fischkal with his idea of inclusive, social housing construction. "I was very pleased that we got together so quickly", according to allinger. Fischkal was happy to continue to enchant the property, after all, social housing construction is not necessarily the core task of a community. "We are glad that the merciful brothers are taking over the project." he revealed, however, that it will not remain the only project in the context of the housing development in adelsdorf.

The 21 housing units should be ready for occupancy in a year and a half. According to allinger, the first applications have already been received. The apartments are open to anyone with a housing permit, which can be applied for through the district office. Income is the basis for assessment. "People from the facility in gremsdorf who are accompanied on an outpatient basis or live independently can also apply", explains christa tottmann, who is in charge of the public relations work of the barmherzige bruder. But they were not given preferential treatment. "This is not, after all, an expansion of our facility."

In any case, fischkal does not doubt that the apartment building will soon be fully booked. "The location is top! Right next to kindergarten and elementary school. Shopping facilities and bus stop in front of the door – what more could you want??"
