Gertrud and oskar fuchs from obervolkach celebrate this friday, 6. September, the feast of the golden wedding. Congratulations to the children thomas, sabine and sonja with their partners and five grandchildren.
The two jubilarians from obervolkach got to know each other at the amateur play of the local rural youth group. "It was at a theater play that we first really hit it off," recalls gertrud fuchs. On 6. September 1969, the st. St. Nicholas married in the parish church of obervolkach. After their wedding, the couple worked on their farm and in the vineyards. With body and soul they were farmers and winegrowers. The little free time that her job allowed, they used every year for a few days of vacation with small and coarse travels.
Besides the work on the farm, gertrud fuchs took care of the household and, after the birth of the children, of the education and the family. Her husband has always been very fond of the local clubs and societies. He is still a long-time member of the winegrowers’ association and the fire department. He has been an active singer with the "gesangverein frohsinn" for over 50 years. The locals have known him for three decades as a reliable field juror. Most of the time he was the chairman of the sevens. He was also responsible as an honorary member of the supervisory board of raiffeisenbank volkach/wiesentheid.
When asked about their hobbies, the first thing they mention is their grandchildren. They also take time to care for the elderly and tend the garden. Oskar fuchs and his wife gertrud keep fit in their old age by swimming and cycling.
